India Shipping Summit 2008
The number one choice of global maritime leaders for conference networking in India.
Open India Shipping Summit Official Website
The 2007 edition of the annual INDIA SHIPPING SUMMIT hosted a total of 594
delegates from 22 countries - more attendees than ever! – confirming the
Summit as India’s premier networking event for international maritime
business!
The 2007 exhibition also expanded to accommodate more stands and booths – although demand again outweighed availability, by more than 100%, as more and more companies apply to exhibit at the Summit every year. Accordingly, in 2008, the exhibition at the Summit will grow further.
Another big new feature in 2007 was the first India Shipping Summit AWARDS, with a Gala Presentation Dinner held after the first day of conferencing.
Over 450 guests representing a Who’s Who in shipping enjoyed a lavish banquet and live entertainment. Awards were presented in six separate categories.
Global leaders in maritime business always choose the India Shipping Summit to announce news, figures and business deals. Amongst the stories creating a buzz at the 2007 event were:
ABG Shipyard’s plan to invest US$100 million in an industrial plant, in western Gujarat, to construct diesel engines via a technical collaboration with MAN Diesel.
Opening of Executive Ship Management’s Samundra (‘the ocean’) Institute of Maritime Studies cadet training centre in Lonavala, north of Mumbai. Built on a 55-acre site (US$20m), it is India’s largest solar-powered project. A central feature is the US$5m ship-in-campus: a replica vessel stern, with fully equipped bridge and engine room, next to an artificial lake used for drills, etc. ESM’s main client, BP Shipping, will also use the facility to train staff. Special coaches were arranged to take delegates on inspection tours.
