Ship Recycling Forum 2009
CRUNCH TIME FOR SCRAPPING
As the ship demolition business faces the greatest challenges and changes for a generation, the key commercial and regulatory issues confronting the sector will be debated at an innovative forum in Dubai.
This one day forum for shipowners, shipbreakers, shipbrokers, legislators, classification societies, lawyers and regulators will provide insight into the radically changing regulatory environment and tackle the hard commercial issues affecting the demolition industry.
With the world financial crisis causing shipowners to radically reassess their fleets, is older tonnage now becoming too hot to handle? Or does recycling present an opportunity to show off green credentials? Is the scrap bonanza over for good, or will the credit crunch prompt a new boom for demolition? But when times are tough, are owners prepared to pay more for environmentally friendly demolition?
Chaired by Nikos Mikelis of IMO the Forum will shine a much needed spotlight on how the current changes will impact ship owners, ship breakers and associated industries. A top line-up of influential speakers drawn from government, industry and NGO’s will provide delegates with thorough insight and understanding of current thinking in ship recycling, while a lively social networking programme has been designed to maximize delegate interaction and value for time.
Register before December 12th 2008 for the early bird discount.
